Pathways To Value

Summer/Fall 2026

When we launched Pathways to Value, we observed that value is not created in a single transaction. It is built over time, through relationships deepened by trust and frameworks refined by experience. In our last issue, we said the institutions best positioned to meet this moment are not the largest or the best funded, but the most connected. The Summer/Autumn 2026 issue asks something harder of all of us, because the ground has moved again.

Artificial intelligence has made capability abundant. A first draft, a summary, an analysis, a schedule, a recommendation: work that once took a week now takes a minute. For institutions that have been asked to do more with less for a decade, that is genuine good news, and these pages are full of it.

What connects these stories is not that each of them uses AI. Nearly everyone does now, and saying so has stopped being informative. What connects them is that each one can tell you exactly where the machine stops and the person starts, and why the line falls there.

As you turn these pages, I invite you to put the question to your own institution. Not what could we automate, but what must remain ours. The answer is a statement of what you value.
