Newark, NJ, October 17, 2023Dr. Forough Ghahramani, Edge’s Assistant Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Sponsored Programs, will be joining fellow thought leaders at the New Jersey Equity in Commercialization Collective (NJECC) Annual Conference, Empowering Innovators: Inclusive Pathways to Commercialization, on October 25, 2023. The conference aims to create sustainable connections between various innovation ecosystem participants, targeting a diverse group of inventors and commercialization gatekeepers: investors, service providers, and tech transfer and venture development staff. 

Hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Campus Center located in Newark, NJ, sessions will run from 8:45 AM to 4 PM with support by the National Science Foundation ADVANCE Partnership Grant – The New Jersey Equity in Commercialization Collective (NJECC). 

Dr. Ghahramani, a co-PI for the NSF ADVANCE Partnership New Jersey Equity in Commercialization Collective (NJECC) grant and one of the conference organizers, will lead a panel dedicated to National Programs and Resources to Improve Inventor Diversity featuring Henry Ahn, Program Director (SBIR/STTR), National Science Foundation (NSF); Almesha Campbell, Assistant Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Jackson State University; Holly Fechner, Executive Director, Invent Together, and Kirsten Leute, Partner, University Relations, Osage University Partners.

The PI for the NJECC Project is Treena Livingston Arinzeh, Ph.D. a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. In addition to Dr. Ghahramani, NJECC co-PI’s include: 

  • Nancy Steffen-Fluhr, Ph.D., the Director of the Murray Center for Women in Technology at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)
  • Judith Sheft, Executive Director of the New Jersey Commission of Science, Innovation and Technology
  • Jeffrey A. Robinson, Ph.D., Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at the Newark campus of Rutgers University and holds the Prudential Chair in Business, a Professor of Management and Global Business at Rutgers Business School
