LAURENCE COCCO

Associate Vice President for Government Relations

Serving as the governmental and partnership liaison to advance initiatives at the local, state, and federal levels in concert with NJEdge capabilities and strategic objectives, Larry works with government officials and public associations across New Jersey. With over a decade of experience in New Jersey State K-12 & Higher Education, he has served as Director of Educational Technology for the New Jersey Department of Education, the Board of Directors for the national State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), and was recognized in 2014 as SETDA State Leader of the Year. Larry attended New York University where he received a graduate degree in Educational Communication and Technology. Widely known for his ability to transform K-20 education through the design and implementation of 21st century teaching strategies and learning environments, Larry is a perfect choice to bring the depth and breadth of NJEdge capabilities to the benefit of public schools and governmental entities in New Jersey. Current and future NJEdge members benefit from Larry’s experience in statewide collaborations, procurement initiatives, grant-funded projects, and legislative advancements.

MICHAEL HACKER

Director of Technology Systems and Professional Services Engagements

After spending over a decade in technology service management, Michael knows the importance of delivering quality professional services engagements. As the Director of Technology Systems and Professional Services Engagements for NJEdge, he works with members who are involved in enterprise digital transformation initiatives and projects to ensure positive outcomes. Certified in ITIL V3, along with a Bachelor of Science degree from Montclair State University, Michael is also an award winner for excellence in service as the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Customer Service Champion.  Whether its working on a cybersecurity initiative, migrating infrastructure to the cloud, or assisting with enterprise information systems planning and execution, Michael connects with members at professional and technical levels for optimal return on investment of technology spend. A life-long New Jersey native, Michael is everyone’s “go-to” guy for results.

CAITLIN KAPLAN

Associate Vice President Accounting & Controller

In her role as Controller at NJEdge, Caitlin is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, including financial reports, audits and accounting records. With a sharp eye for detail, she  ensures that all of NJEdge’s reported results adhere to strict compliance measures and accounting principles.  Her most recent experiences include a six-year term  at New Jersey’s Institute of Technology where she held the position of  Account Manager which was preceded by a six-year tenure as an Auditor in KPMG’s non-profit sector.  Caitlin received her B.A. in Accounting from Muhlenberg College.

MELISSA LENA

VALE Program Manager

When it comes to tech-savvy librarians, Melissa is at the top of the list. As Program Manager for our Virtual Academic Library Environment (VALE) she applies her in-depth library knowledge along with her relevant skills in administrative management and fiscal management to advance the VALE agenda and capabilities to the benefit of our membership. The massive task of evolving the state of academic libraries into 21st century thinking is not easy. Taking on this task, Melissa applies her abilities to work with members who want to manage and organize the (digital) library, handle the specialized tasks of massive digitization, storage, access, digital knowledge mining, digital reference services, electronic information services, search co‐ordination, and manage the archive and its access. Her undergraduate degree in Social Sciences and graduate degree in Library Science provide a solid foundation on which Melissa can leverage an impressive background in all facets of library operations. Most notable is her history of collaborating to conceive and implement new strategies and initiatives.

ADAM SCARZAFAVA

Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications

As an experienced marketing professional and communications strategist Adam’s passion is connecting people with technology solutions, products, and services. After spending the past eight years with a premiere technology solutions provider in executive digital marketing and communications roles, Adam joined NJEdge in 2018 to help current and new members learn about and take full advantage of digital media, cloud, networking, security, and professional service solutions. Adam’s experience and track record as a top college athlete makes him no stranger to competition in today’s digital world. Graduating magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and then began his career at the Global Options Group in New York City. Besides technology, on any given day Adam can be found coaching little league baseball or snowboarding.

JIM STANKIEWICZ

Associate Vice President and Principal Network Architect

Jim Stankiewicz leads the technical management team with a future-forward approach that embraces a long-term vision of an integrated K-20 portal for the NJ educational community. With responsibility for the NJEdge network infrastructure, Jim guides his team through complex engineering project activities that drive customer performance, utilization, problem resolution and the overall effectiveness of the Edge network. Jim’s 25+-years of experience in communications and network development are key drivers for NJEdge’s commitment to adaptive and defined technology solutions. Jim holds certification in CCIP (Certified CISCO Internet Professional) and CCSP (Certified CISCO Security Professional).

BRUCE TYRRELL

Associate Vice President Programs & Services

Since the infancy of NJEdge, Bruce Tyrrell’s roots with Higher Education, State Government, K-12, local and county government IT environments has served as a foundation for defined solutions and transformative engagement experience for all NJEdge members. With a keen emphasis on realizing the strategic goals of the consortium, his member-focused approach continues to drive maximum benefit for all NJEdge constituents. Bruce holds an ITIL V3 certification – one of the most widely adopted approaches for IT service management in the world, providing a practical, no-nonsense framework for identifying, planning and supporting IT services.
