Keynote Speaker:

Michael currently serves as the Executive Director of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). NACE is a nonprofit membership association organized by and on behalf of member institutions and is the only governing body of college esports in North America. NACE’s members are developing the structure and tools needed to advance collegiate esports in the varsity space. Areas of collaboration include: Eligibility, Path to Graduation, Competition & Scholarships, IP Rights, and Program Implementation. NACE currently has 179 varsity esports programs as members, accounting for nearly all varsity programs across North America. Michael and his work with NACE has been featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, ESPN, Forbes, Fortune, NBC, SBJ and many others.

1 p.m. Keynote: Launching a Varsity Esports Program: What You Need to Know

Michael Brooks, Executive Director, National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE)

Michael will discuss the structure and tools needed to advance collegiate esports in the varsity space including eligibility, path to graduation, competition and scholarships. The presentation will provide an in-depth exploration of the some benefits which can be achieved by launching a varsity esports team, including reputational benefits, increasing athletic participation numbers, additional revenue, and diversity within an institution’s athletics program. Data on positive ROI of esports on student recruitment and retention will also be presented.
