Newark, NJ, November 6, 2020 – Edge, the region’s nonprofit research and education network and technology partner, has announced a partnership with the Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity (the Mission Critical Institute), a leading provider of cybersecurity talent creation, and the governing body for the Cybersecurity Cloud Risk Management Professional Certification (CCRMP). The partnership will enable Edge members to quickly and easily collaborate with the Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity to offer their students comprehensive cybersecurity certification programs.

The Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity is a workforce enabler and academic accelerator for producing job-ready individuals to fill open cybersecurity positions for businesses, organizations, and institutions. Current estimates suggest the number of open cybersecurity jobs will be at 4 million globally by the end of 2021. Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity’s mission is to close that gap and put the US in a leadership position for cybersecurity globally by offering a DHS-recognized, performance-based, enterprise risk management cyber CCRMP certification program. Leveraging the RMF/CSF and NIST and NICE frameworks, Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity’s certification programs provide a direct cybersecurity career pathway aligned to industry-needed capabilities.

“We believe we have an opportunity to transform economic development and bring significant change in New Jersey, New York, and the wider region, impacting every Fortune 500, Fortune 1,000, and Fortune 5,000 company who has a presence in the region.” Christopher Etesse, the Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity’s CEO says, “Filling the gap of qualified experts is what we want to accomplish across the nation, and in partnership with Edge, we are developing the next generation of cyber individuals to help companies further expand and protect themselves, while growing the economy in the New Jersey and New York area. We are tackling the problem head on and looking to change the landscape.”

Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity program students have already gone on to obtain positions at Northrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, the National Security Agency, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, Microsoft, Deloitte, and many others.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work directly with the Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity to bring industry leading cybersecurity programs to the region and facilitate economic growth around the growing cybersecurity industry.” said Dr. Samuel Conn, Edge President and CEO. “At the same time, we anticipate these programs will work to the benefit of our member institutions, making their academic offerings more attractive by connecting directly to compelling employment opportunities and acting as a differentiator in the increasingly competitive higher education marketplace.” The Mission Critical Institute for Cybersecurity and Edge experts stand ready to collaborate with academic delivery partners who want to increase their student base to meet the talent development needs of the cybersecurity industry, companies and organizations looking to hire cybersecurity staff, and economic development organizations looking to support cybersecurity efforts within their region.
