Infrastructure
The NJEDge.Net infrastructure provisions a regional optical network and statewide broadband access to our
connected members. The network is multicast and IPV6 enabled. At the core of the network are sophisticated
video conferencing and distance learning capabilities with the capacity to handle several hundred simultaneous
video conferences anywhere in the state and with multiple participating sites. NJEDge.Net provides a new
generation of on-line collaboration tools designed to create optimal environments for teaching and learning
as well as community based workforce development initiatives.
Today there are 55 members participating in NJEDge.Net and together they account for a combined total
of over 4.5 gigabits of Internet and 300 megabits of Internet2 bandwidth traveling over a managed IP
infrastructure that covers the entire state.
We provide these institutions with a statewide regional optical backbone, broadband Internet services,
comprehensive voice services, sophisticated video conferencing and distance learning capabilities, streaming
video resources and video-on-demand, regional access to Internet2, interoperability with the K12 Video
Portal and shared access to a satellite uplink/downlink facility.
