User Services Symposium

User services staff are the first line of contact for faculty, students and administrators.  They need to understand the needs of users and provide seamless support for IT services. This can be difficult in an environment that sees hundreds of new users come and go every year.  Summers are one of the only times in the academic year when many of user services employees can get out of office and we look forward to another event where ideas can be shared and professional networks can be developed.

Our third annual User Services Symposium is designed to bring together the employees that provide user services support to learn from and share strategies and best practices with their local colleagues. This event is intended for anyone that is providing support for:

  • Service Desk
  • End-point computing
  • Application management
  • Service level management
  • IT resource capacity management
  • Procurement, vendor relations
  • ITIL Management

NJIT, Stockton, Rider, St. Peter’s, Raritan, Rowan College at Burlington County, Berkley, Essex, Brookdale, and SUNY/Staten Island are presenting.  Their presentations are an excellent cross-section of what you do as user services personnel.
Presentations include;

  • Technology Services and Student Workers
  • Migrating to 365 in cloud
  • On Demand LMS Support using WordPress
  • Managing Phishing and Ransomware
  • What is ITIL and How can it Help Higher Education IT Organizations?
  • Connecting with your client - simple steps to increase end-user engagement satisfaction
  • Breaking Down the Support Siloes
