As Vice President for Academic and Community Engagement, Sheri Prupis is responsible for all aspects of academic computing activities and initiatives of the NJEDdge.Net community.   She spearheads EDge.Networks and administers their activities.  She is in charge of the two important events for the consortium:  Faculty Showcase in the spring and the NJEDge.Net Annual Conference in the fall.  In addition, she selects and directs the events of the year which includes webinars, training sessions, vendor demonstrations and seminars.

In her tenure Sheri has expanded NJEDge’s distinction through interaction with the community and the promotion of the mission in the state and national educational forum.  Under her supervision she chairs all NJEDge events such as webinar, training, seminars and most importantly program planning of the Faculty Showcase and the NJEDge.Net Annual Conference.

Through her efforts, NJEDge secured a multi-year grant with Verizon FIOS where we provide member institutions with video production equipment. The FIOS program is in its fourth iteration and 5 institutions have set up the pilot group on campus.

Under her direction, Sheri coordinates information about the consortium to the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board.  She initiates annual reports, newsletters and promotional materials to broaden the visibility of the consortium.

She is the “public” face of NJEDge.Net. She coordinates member relationships, runs the affiliate vendor program and manages member connections to the NJEDge.Net fiber ring infrastructure.

Sheri is a member of the Program Committee for the Western Co-operative for Educational Technologies (WCET) and is active in ACM SIGUCCS. National participation gives her a wider perspective on the directions NJEDge.Net takes to grow.  She has presented at numerous conferences on technology and teaching.

Prior to coming to NJEDge.Net Sheri was Director of Academic Computing at the New School University, and Baruch College/CUNY. She was also the manager of educational technologies at UMDNJ. Sheri continues to teach as an adjunct professor as Kean University. She teaches sociology and uses the same web tools that she promotes to our members.

Sheri received her BA in sociology from Douglass College, Rutgers University. She has a MA in sociology from New York University, and holds an ABD status at NYU.

Sheri has certification in Distance Education, Novell, Fundamentals of Data Communications, TCP/IP & OSI Internetworking, and PSI net.
