Charlie McMickle is the master architect behind the network. He designs technical facilities, oversees projects and directs technical services. He oversees the technical direction of the network architecture and videoconferencing portal and of other NJEDge.Net programs.
Charlie has re-defined the network architecture of NJEDge.Net in light of new and developing optical technologies and has significantly enhanced the capabilities of the network. His efforts have saved the membership significant dollars and increased member bandwidth capacity. Charlie is highly regarded within the state of New Jersey as an expert in this area, and is frequently sought after by higher educational institutions throughout the state. His expertise is recognized throughout the country as Charlie frequently speaks about video and data convergence and video standards. At last year’s StateNets conference Charlie presented on emerging video technologies.
While working as co-designer of IT infrastructure for William Paterson University, Charlie was already thinking about how a technology consortium was the optimum way to share methodologies, pedagogies and technologies. Charlie co-designed the first interactive video classroom deployed to 39 New Jersey colleges. He designed portable digital video satellite uplink that was made available to all NJ Higher Education institutions, and he co-designed the digital upgrade and international capability to 20 Meter earth station at William Paterson University.

Charlie received his BS from Seton Hall University, and Master of Science from New York University. He is a PhD. Candidate with an ABD.
