For the second consecutive year Sussex County Community Colleges EDTV20 two person production team has been honored with a prestigious Telly award.
This year’s honor was awarded for the team’s production of the Colleges television commercial that ran on local and regional cable networks. The EDTV20 production team produces all the colleges’ commercials, training and broadcast materials in-house with student assistants, saving the college the high costs of outside production services. This year’s award follows on the heels of the Telly awarded to the college for the production of the mini documentary “The Way Up” a behind the scenes look at the growth of Vernon Townships High Schools robotics program.
Tony Selimo has spearheaded EDTV20 for several years. This is the second consecutive Telly Award to Sussex for excellence. We congratulate Tony and will honor him at this year’s Summer Luncheon on July 25, 2013 at the Breakers.
The Rainforest Connection Live! brings scientists and educators in remote rainforest locations into classrooms via webcam to talk about lessons in ecology, native cultures, and conservation. In its 11th year, the RFC team will be webcasting from rainforest in Panama from February 18 – March 1 and cloud forest March 7, 8, and 14. In April and May they will be connecting from Thailand and Borneo.

The Telly Award winning Sussex County Community College film and video program recently received 2, Zephyr Steadicam EFP units by The Tiffen Company of Hauppauge New York, to add to its production inventory. Students in Television production and Cinematography will be able to utilize the advanced industry standard camera support system in classroom projects and to support locally produced programming for the colleges TV station EDTV20. “The acquisition of these units will enhance the total production experience for our students as they prepare for the entertainment production industry”, according to Director of EDTV20 and Coordinator of The Video, Film and Journalism programs at SCCC Tony Selimo. “ We have produced two documentaries over the last two academic years and have others on the books in the planning stage”. “These units will enhance our ability to produce more sophisticated features”, Selimo said. The units will be used in sports, news and music video productions as well as documentaries, small features college commercials promotional materials..
